Cedar Mount Academy
Cedar Mount Academy is an academy in Gorton, Manchester, England. The school caters for boys and girls aged 11–16 years and is located in the East of the city of Manchester. The school has moved into the new building with Melland High School called Gorton Education Village. They moved into this new state-of-the-art building in 2008. The school has its own website in which parents can visit in which to gain information, make inquiries and read about upcoming events. Academy Status In late 2011/early 2012 it was announced that Cedar Mount High School would be transformed into Cedar Mount Academy. On 1 August 2012 Cedar Mount had officially gained its academy status. House System Cedar Mount has a house system which is incorporated in the school life. "A Groovy Kind of Love" is a song written by Toni Wine and Carole Bayer Sager based on a melody by the classical composer Muzio Clementi. The original rendition was recorded by American singing duo Diane & Annita and released as "Groovey Kind of Love" on the French EP ''One by One'', in 1965. It has since been recorded by numerous artists, with the Mindbenders and Phil Collins releasing successful versions. Background "A Groovy Kind of Love" consists of lyrics written by Bayer Sager and Wine, with music by Muzio Clementi. Spurley Hey Comprehensive School was a school in Rotherham, open between 1931 and 1991. History Originally, the institution was two schools, Spurley Hey Central School for Boys and Spurley Hey Central School for Girls. Both opened in 1931 and were named after Spurley Hey, Rotherham's former Director of Education. The two schools later became secondary moderns. The Mindbenders
The Mindbenders were an English beat group from Manchester. Originally the backing group for Wayne Fontana, they were one of several acts that were successful in the mid-1960s British Invasion of the US charts, achieving major chart hits with " The Game of Love" (a number-one single with Fontana) in 1965 and "A Groovy Kind of Love" in 1966. Career Wayne Fontana founded the band in June 1963 with Bob Lang, Ric Rothwell, and Eric Stewart.
