Peruvians
Peruvians ( es, peruanos) are the citizens of Peru. There were Andean and coastal ancient civilizations like Caral, which inhabited what is now Peruvian territory for several millennia before the Spanish conquest in the 16th century; Peruvian population decreased from an estimated 5–9 million in the 1520s to around 600,000 in 1620 mainly because of infectious diseases carried by the Spanish. Spaniards and Africans arrived in large numbers in 1532 under colonial rule, mixing widely with each other and with Native Peruvians. During the Republic, there has been a gradual immigration of European people (especially from Spain and Italy, and in a less extent from Germany, France, Croatia, and the British Isles). Chinese and Japanese arrived in large numbers at the end of the 19th century. With 31.2 million inhabitants according to the 2017 Census, Peru is the fifth most populous country in South America. Its demographic growth rate declined from 2.6% to 1.6% between 1950 and ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Ringo Starr
Sir Richard Starkey (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. Starr occasionally sang lead vocals with the group, usually for one song on each album, including " Yellow Submarine" and " With a Little Help from My Friends". He also wrote and sang the Beatles songs " Don't Pass Me By" and " Octopus's Garden", and is credited as a co-writer of four others. Starr was afflicted by life-threatening illnesses during childhood, with periods of prolonged hospitalisation. He briefly held a position with British Rail before securing an apprenticeship as a machinist at a Liverpool school equipment manufacturer. Soon afterwards, Starr became interested in the UK skiffle craze and developed a fervent admiration for the genre. In 1957, he co-founded his first band, the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group, which earned several prestigious local bookings before the fa ... Guilty Pleasures (Lazlo Bane Album)
''Guilty Pleasures'' is a 2007 album by the band Lazlo Bane, consisting entirely of cover versions of various hits from the 1970s. Unlike the band's previous album, ''Back Sides'', which was released only digitally through online music stores, ''Guilty Pleasures'' was released both on CD and digital download formats. It is also the only Lazlo Bane album where every member of the band sings lead vocals on at least one song. Overview The project was first announced through the band's Myspace blog in January 2007 with the first song mentioned being " Stuck in the Middle with You". The band ended up with the album containing 20 songs, almost all of which were originally released in the 1970s, except " I Love You" by Climax Blues Band, which was released on the album ''Flying the Flag'' and also as a single in 1980. The titles of several songs were changed from their original ones. The first song, listed as "Get Right Back", is actually titled "Right Back Where We Started From". ... Lazlo Bane
Lazlo Bane is an alternative rock band from Santa Monica, California, United States. They are well known for collaborating with former Men at Work member Colin Hay, and providing the song " Superman" as the theme for the television show '' Scrubs''. Background Formation and early years The band's origin can be traced back to the efforts of Chad Fischer touring with School of Fish in the early 1990s as a drummer. After a disagreement and falling out with a producer and School of Fish eventual split, Fischer went solo and began writing and recording his own material without the benefit of professional mixing or mastering. Taking the name Lazlo Bane Chad Fischer initially signed to Los Angeles-based indie label Fish of Death Records, and released debut single "Buttercup" backed with a cover of Men at Work's 1983 hit "Overkill". The latter was recorded in conjunction with Men at Work's frontman Colin Hay, with whom Chad Fischer formed a solid relationship and would continue ... Man @ Work
''Man @ Work'' is the eighth studio album by Scottish Australian singer Colin Hay, released by Compass Records in July 2003. Overview The album is a career-retrospective for Hay: he is best known as the lead singer for the 1980s Australian pop band Men at Work, and roughly half of the songs on this album are Hay's solo studio renderings of works from the Men at Work catalog, while several others are remixes or re-recordings of material from his solo albums. Some songs are almost identical to the original recordings (e.g. "Be Good Johnny") while others are complete reinterpretations (e.g. acoustic versions of "Down Under" and "Who Can It Be Now?"). The album concludes with a version of "Down Under" recorded with the group Wild Clams. The album was re-released on vinyl in 2014 with different tracklisting replacing several tracks with new ones. Reception AllMusic gave a mostly negative review of the album, saying of the Men at Work covers that "While such acoustic Men at Wor ... Wong Kar-wai
Wong Kar-wai (born 17 July 1958) is a Hong Kong film director, screenwriter, and producer. His films are characterised by nonlinear narratives, atmospheric music, and vivid cinematography involving bold, saturated colours. A pivotal figure of Hong Kong cinema, Wong is considered a contemporary auteur, and ranks third on ''Sight & Sound''s 2002 poll of the greatest filmmakers of the previous 25 years. His films frequently appear on best-of lists domestically and internationally. Born in Shanghai, Wong emigrated to British Hong Kong as a child with his family. He began a career as a screenwriter for soap operas before transitioning to directing with his debut, the crime drama '' As Tears Go By'' (1988).
