AlphaBay was a darknet market operating at different times between September 2014 and February 2023. At times, it was both an hidden service, onion service on the Tor (anonymity network), Tor network and an I2P node on I2P. After it was shut down in July 2017 following law enforcement action in the United States, Canada, and Thailand as part of Operation Bayonet (darknet), Operation Bayonet, it was relaunched in August 2021 by the self-described co-founder and security administrator DeSnake. The alleged original founder, Alexandre Cazes, a Canadian citizen born on 19 October 1991, was found dead in his cell in Thailand several days after his arrest, with police suspecting suicide. Charles De Cazes
Charles de Caze (1808 – October 4, 1867) was a notary and political figure in Canada East. He was born in Brittany in 1808, arrived in Quebec City in 1854 and settled in the Eastern Townships. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Richmond—Wolfe in 1861 and defeated in 1863. He wished to improve the state of agriculture in Canada East. De Caze was the first francophone member elected in the Eastern Townships. After his term in office, he was appointed inspector of schools for the counties of Saint-Hyacinthe, Bagot, and Rouville. David Cazès
David Cazès (1851, Tétouan, Morocco – 1913) was a Moroccan Jewish educator and writer. Early life Sent to Paris in his early youth, Cazès was educated by the Alliance Israélite Universelle, and at the age of 18 was commissioned to establish and direct several primary schools in the East; namely, at Volos in Thessaly (1869), at Smyrna (1873), and at Tunis (February 1878–1893). In each of these places he took part also in the organization of the Jewish communities. At Tunis, especially the official organization of Judaism by the government of the French protectorate, was his work. There he was founder and principal of several elementary schools. In 1893 he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, serving as a member of the administrative committee of the colonization fund founded by Baron Maurice de Hirsch under the name of the Jewish Colonization Association. Jean-Michel Cazes
Jean-Michel Cazes (25 March 1935 – 28 June 2023) was a French winemaker and insurance executive. He managed the wine holdings of AXA Millésimes until 2000, the family insurance agency, and the Cazes family estates until 2006. He was the son of André Cazes and grandson of Jean-Charles Cazes who acquired the family's initial holdings. Biography Cazes completed his degree at the École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris (1958) (where he also played Rugby), then earned an M.S. in petroleum engineering at University of Texas (1960) as a Rotary Scholar. He served in the French Air Force (1960–1962), leaving with the rank of lieutenant. He was a sales manager at IBM France (1962–1971) and president of STAD ( Empain-Schneider Group) (1971–1973), both in Paris. Mario Cazes
Mario Cazes (17 July 1890 – 3 November), was a 20th-century French composer, conductor and violinist extremely popular during the 1920s and 1930s. He was a recipient of the ordre national of the Légion d'honneur. Marius Joseph Cazes, the son of Cazes Joseph-Auguste and Avérous Zélie, was the eldest in a family of five brothers and two sisters. Considered one of the greatest violinists of his time, he was the first with his band to perform on Radio Tour Eiffel in 1927.
