Cavit Şadi Pehlivanoğlu
Cavit Şadi Pehlivanoğlu (1927 – 21 November 2015) was a Turkish statesman, who served as a legislator of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for three terms between 1961 and 1996, first as a member of Justice Party (Turkey) and then as the Vice President of Motherland Party (Turkey) that he founded together with Turgut Özal and others. He was elected from the province Ordu. He held several positions within the parliament. Ordu (electoral District)
Ordu is an electoral district of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It elects six members of parliament (deputies) to represent the province of the same name for a four-year term by the D'Hondt method, a party-list proportional representation system. The capital of the province is the city of Ordu. Members Population reviews of each electoral district are conducted before each general election, which can lead to certain districts being granted a smaller or greater number of parliamentary seats. Ordu is a borderline electoral district, with its representation varying between six and eight members since the late 1970s. Ordu
Ordu () or Altınordu is a port city on the Black Sea coast of Turkey and the capital of Ordu Province. The city forms the urban part of the Altınordu, Ordu, Altınordu district, with a population of 235,096 in 2023. Name Kotyora, the original name of the city is a legacy of indigenous Colchis, Colchians. The name is allegedly composed of an old Laz language word for pottery ('Koto', similar to Mingrelian language, Mingrelian 'Koto', Georgian language, Georgian 'Kotani' and Laz 'Katana') and a common Kartvelian languages, Kartvelian suffix indicating belonging ('Uri'). 1961 Turkish General Election
General elections were held in Turkey on 15 October 1961. The Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged as the largest party, winning 173 of the 450 seats. It was the first time the CHP had won the most seats after the transition to a multi-party system, and the first time no party won a majority of seats. Voter turnout was 81%.
