The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature (the upper house being the California State Senate). Jay Phillip Obernolte ( ; born August 18, 1970) is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for since 2021, when it was numbered as the 8th district. A Republican, he was previously a member of the California State Assembly representing the 33rd district. Before serving in the Assembly, Obernolte served on the city council and was the mayor of Big Bear Lake, California. Kansen Chu ( born October 27, 1952) is a Taiwanese-born American politician. A Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, Chu was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020, for the California's 25th State Assembly district, 25th District, which encompasses parts of the South Bay (San Francisco Bay Area), South and East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area), East Bay regions of the San Francisco Bay Area. Susan Talamantes Eggman (born March 3, 1961) is an American politician who served in the California State Senate from 2020 to 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented the 5th Senate district, which encompasses western San Joaquin County; from January 19, 2022, she served as Assistant Majority Leader.
