Catalan Alliance
Catalan Alliance () is a far-right political party in Catalonia. It is a Catalan pro-independence, and ultranationalist party, that also opposes immigration and is against the use of the Spanish language in Catalonia. It is currently the governing party of the municipality of Ripoll. At the 2024 Catalan regional election, the party entered the Parliament of Catalonia for the first time, with two seats. History The party was founded in 2020 by Ripoll Councilor Sílvia Orriols, who left the National Front of Catalonia (FNC) due to her opposition to moderating the party's stance on immigration. All FNC members in Ripoll joined Orriols in forming the Catalan Alliance. In May 2023, the party won the municipal elections in Ripoll, receiving the most votes in the town and obtaining six councilors. Sílvia Orriols Serra (; born 9 October 1984) is a Catalan politician, president of the right wing ultranationalist political party Catalan Alliance, and mayor of Ripoll since June 2023. Biography She has a degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Vic and has worked since 2006 as an secretary in a private company. As a politician, she has been active in several political parties. In 2004 she joined the Estat Català lists for the elections to the European Parliament. After the independence referendum in Catalonia in 2017, she began to actively participate in the Ripoll protests against the application of article 155, gradually becoming known thanks to these types of acts.
