The ninth series of the British medical drama television series ''Casualty'' commenced airing in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 17 September 1994 and finished on 25 March 1995. Cast Overview The ninth series of ''Casualty'' features a cast of characters working in the emergency department of Holby City Hospital. Only 5 of the regular cast from the previous series were retained. Clive Mantle starred as emergency medicine consultant Mike Barratt. Derek Thompson continued his role as clinical nurse manager Charlie Fairhead. Patrick Robinson and Jane Gurnett appeared as charge nurse Martin "Ash" Ashford and staff nurse Rachel Longworth. Ian Bleasdale portrayed paramedic Josh Griffiths. The series initially met with negative responses from some viewers due a key visual change - the switch from the videotape visual style to a 'filmic' look. BBC One

Ian Bleasdale
Ian Bleasdale (born 1950, in Upholland, Lancashire) is an English actor and television presenter. He divides his time between Haworth in West Yorkshire and Bristol. He started off life as a teacher before deciding that he wanted to become an actor, something which he would later joke forced his mother to take to her sickbed. Casualty Series 1
The first series of the British medical drama television series ''Casualty'' began airing on 6 September 1986, and concluded on 27 December 1986. The show was created by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin. Geraint Morris was appointed as the show's producer. Prior to first series airing, Brock and Unwin visited the Bristol Royal Infirmary where they met a charge nurse called Pete Salt who was appointed the series medical advisor. The first series of ''Casualty'' consisted of fifteen episodes with individual titles, which aired weekly on a Saturday night. The first series featured ten main characters, who were all appointed different roles within the A&E department. By the end of the first series, two actors would not be returning for the second series: Julia Watson (Baz Samuels) and George Harris (Clive King). Julia Watson (born 13 September 1953) is a British actress, known for playing Barbara 'Baz' Wilder in the BBC medical drama ''Casualty''. Life and career Watson was born on 13 September 1953 in Maesteg and brought up in the Derby area. ''Casualty'' is a British medical drama television series that premiered on 6 September 1986 on BBC1. The series was created by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin. It is set in the fictional Holby City Hospital, in the equally fictitious city of Holby, and features occasional crossovers of characters and plots with spin-off show ''Holby City''. ''Casualty'' follows the professional and personal lives of the doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital management and patients at Holby General.
