Caspar Castner
The Reverend Caspar Castner (7 October 1655– 9 November 1709) was a Jesuit missionary to the Qing Empire. Life Caspar Castner was born in Munich, Bavaria, on 7 October 1655. He entered the Society of Jesus ("Jesuits") on 17 September 1681, and studied theology at Ingolstadt. He finished his studies there on 22 March 1694. For a short time, he taught logic at the gymnasium in Ratisbon. Afterwards, he devoted himself to the work of missions and sailed in 1696 for China at the head of a company of brother Jesuits from Portugal and Genoa. In China, where he was known as Pang Jiabin, he laboured with great success on Shangchuan Island and in the city of Foshan, then a competitor of Guangzhou. In 1702 he went with Father François Noël to Lisbon and Rome in order, as representative of the bishops of Nanjing and Macao, to argue against the Bishop of Fujian's reopening of the Chinese Rites controversy. Eugene Castner Lewis
Major Eugene Castner Lewis (June 21, 1845 – February 13, 1917) was an American engineer and businessman. He served as the chairman of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway from 1900 to 1917. As a civic leader, he helped develop Shelby Park and Centennial Park, including the Parthenon, as well as Union Station. Early life Eugene C. Lewis was born on June 21, 1845. His father was the manager of the Cumberland Iron Works. Lewis was educated at the Pennsylvania Military Academy, enrolling in 1862, during the American Civil War. Business career Lewis began his career as the president of Sycamore Mills in Cheatham County, Tennessee. He also designed at least two bridges over Sycamore Creek in Nashville. Hamilton Castner
Hamilton Young Castner (September 11, 1858 – October 11, 1899) was an American industrial chemist. Biography He was born in Brooklyn, New York and educated at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, then at the Columbia University School of Mines. He left without a degree and in 1879 joined his brother, E. B. Castner, as a consulting chemist. He left this business around 1884 and worked to devise a process for manufacturing aluminium by reducing aluminium chloride with sodium. Sodium was relatively expensive at that time and Castner devised a process of producing it by the reduction of caustic soda with carbon, a much cheaper process. He failed to interest American industrialists and travelled to England in 1886. () In 1887 his process helped to lead to the formation of the Aluminium Company in England which produced aluminium of high purity. Joseph Compton Castner (November 18, 1869 - July 8, 1946) was a United States Army general. He commanded the Ninth Infantry Brigade in all its operations as a part of the Fifth Division, American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) during the final months of World War I. Early years He was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, November 18, 1869. His father, Cornelius W. Castner, served as captain of one of New Brunswick's first companies in the American Civil War. Michael Castner is an American journalist, television host and radio personality. He is the morning national news anchor for NBC News Radio. He formerly hosted ''The Michael Castner Show'' on KEX in Portland and The Daily Wrap for the Wall Street Journal Radio Network. ''The Michael Castner Show'' debuted on KEX in July 2013 and was cancelled December 2016. The syndicated Daily Wrap show debuted in April 2011, and aired live from 6 to 9 pm Eastern Time.
