The Casa del Arte José Clemente Orozco (more commonly known simply as the Casa del Arte, "House of Art" or Pinacoteco, "Art Gallery") is a Chilean art museum on the campus of the University of Concepción, in Concepción, Chile, Concepción. It is situated on the corner of Chacabuco and Larenas, facing the Plaza Perú (Concepción), Plaza Perú. The gallery attracts approximately 75,000 visitors a year and houses the country's largest collection of paintings outside the capital city of Santiago, and the most complete collection of Chilean art with some 1,800 works. Marta Colvin
Marta Colvin Andrade (1907–1995) was a sculptor from Chillán, Chile. Biography Marta Colvin Andrade was the daughter of James Colvin of Irish descent and Elvira Andrade of Portuguese descent. After the 1939 Chillán earthquake, she lived in Santiago, Chile, and studied at the Arts Faculty, Universidad de Chile, School of Arts. In 1943 she was appointed assistant professor from the sculpture workshop of Julio A. Vasquez and master Lorenzo Domínguez and was officially appointed Professor in 1950. In 1948 she attended the Grande Chaumiere Academie in Paris with masters Ossian Zadkine and Henry Laurens. She went on to live in France for more than thirty years. In 1965 she took part in the first Sao Paulo Biennale. She was known worldwide and awarded the National Art Prize in 1970 in recognition of her works. She died in Santiago on 27 October 1995. Nicanor Segundo Parra Sandoval (5 September 1914 – 23 January 2018) was a Chilean physicist and poet. He has been considered one of the most influential Spanish-language Chilean poets of the 20th century. José Balmes Parramón (20 January 1927 – 28 August 2016) was a Spain, Spanish-born painter based in Chile. He received Chile's National Prize for Plastic Arts (Chile), National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1999. Biography José Balmes was born in 1927 in the town of Montesquiu in Catalonia, where he spent his childhood until the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936.
