Caruaru
Caruaru is a Brazilian Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the States of Brazil, state of Pernambuco. The most populous city in the interior of the state, Caruaru is located in the microzone of Agreste and because of its cultural importance, it is nicknamed ''Capital do Agreste'' (Portuguese language, Portuguese for the "capital city of the Agreste region"), ''Princesinha do Agreste'' ("Little Princess of Agreste"), and ''Capital of agreste'' ("the capital city of ''forró''"). Raquel Lyra
Raquel Teixeira Lyra Lucena (born 2 December 1978) is a Brazilian lawyer, politician and the current governor of Pernambuco since 2023. Lyra was mayor of Caruaru from 2017 to 2022. A member of a political family, she previously served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco. She is affiliated to the Social Democratic Party (PSD), but was a member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB). Early career Lyra was born to João Lyra Neto, the former mayor of Caruaru and Governor of Pernambuco, and Mércia Lyra, daughter of the former mayor of Caruaru João Lyra Filho and niece of Itamar Franco's Minister of Justice Fernando Soares Lyra. Lyra was elected to the state legislative of Pernambuco in the 2010 elections with 49,610 votes. Caruaru Airport
Oscar Laranjeira Airport is the airport serving Caruaru, Brazil. It is operated by Dix Empreendimentos. History The airport was commissioned in 1985 but remained closed from 2003 to 2006 due to repair works on the apron: twice, in 2000 and 2002, the apron collapsed under the weight of aircraft. Festa Junina
''Festas Juninas'' (; "June Festivals/Festivities"), also known as ''festas de São João'' ("Saint John's Day") for their part in celebrating the nativity of St. John the Baptist (June 24), are the annual Brazilian celebrations adapted from European Midsummer that take place in the southern midwinter. These festivities, which were introduced by the Portuguese during the colonial period (1500–1822), are celebrated during the month of June nationwide. The festival is mainly celebrated on the eves of the Catholic solemnities of Saint Anthony, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Peter. Aeroporto Internacional do Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre is the airport serving Recife, Brazil. Since December 27, 2001 it is named after the Recife-born Anthropologist and Sociologist Gilberto de Mello Freyre (1900–1987).
