Carson Benge
Carson Grant Benge (born January 20, 2003) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the New York Mets organization. He was drafted by the Mets in the 2024 MLB draft in the first round with the 19th overall pick. He played college baseball as an outfielder and pitcher for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Amateur career Benge attended Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma, where he played baseball. He committed to play college baseball at Oklahoma State University prior to his senior year. As a senior in 2021, Benge pitched to an 8–1 record with 124 strikeouts alongside batting .490. He went unselected in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft and enrolled at Oklahoma State. Benge redshirted and did not appear in a game in 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He made his collegiate debut in 2023, pitching to a 6.69 ERA over 35 innings and appearing in 59 games primarily in right field. He batted .345 with seven home runs and 43 RBIs. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch Batted ball, fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the Baseball, bases. Outfielders normally play behind the six Baseball positions, defensive players located in the infield: the pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, and shortstop. The left fielder and right fielder are named based on their positions relative to the center fielder when looking out from home plate, with the left fielder positioned to the left of the center fielder and the right fielder positioned to the right. Cape Cod Baseball League
The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL or Cape League) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league located on Cape Cod in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. One of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues, the league boasts over 1,000 former players who have gone on to play in the major leagues. History Pre-modern era Origins As early as the 1860s, baseball teams representing various Cape Cod towns and villages were competing against one another. The earliest newspaper account is of an 1867 game in Sandwich, Massachusetts, Sandwich between the hometown "Nichols Club" and the visiting Cummaquid team. Though not formalized as a league, the games provided entertainment for residents and summer visitors. In 1885, a Independence Day (United States), Fourth of July baseball game was held matching teams from Barnstable, Massachusetts, Barnstable and Sandwich.
