Carrillo (canton)
Carrillo is a canton in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. The head city is in Filadelfia district. Toponymy The name of the canton is in honor of former head of state Braulio Carrillo Colina. History Carrillo was created on 16 June 1877 by decree 22. In the 18th century a group of Ladinos settled on the west bank of the middle Tempisque River, where there was a grove of trees called "sietecueros" ('' Lonchocarpus costericensi''), giving rise to the population that corresponds to the city of Filadelfia, head of the canton. In Executive Decree No. 22 of June 16, 1877, Carrillo was declared a canton of Guanacaste province. The oldest population of the canton is Sardinal, proof of this is the mention of the place made by Brother Don Antonio Muñoz, following his visit in late 1794 for a collection of handouts that he performed in several villages of Guanacaste. Puerto Carrillo is a district of the Hojancha canton, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. History Puerto Carrillo was created on 23 July 1999 by Decreto Ejecutivo 28027-G. Segregated from Hojancha. Geography Puerto Carrillo has an area of km² and an elevation of metres. Situated along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica's Guanacaste Province, Puerto Carrilo is a jewel among Costa Rica's Pacific beaches. The town itself is very small (less than 500 full-time residents) and is predominantly a sport-fishing village with a handful of nice hotels, restaurants, two small food markets, and tour operators. While there are only a limited number of hotels and places to eat in Carrillo, many options are available in the nearby town of Samara, just 4 km away. The population in Carrillo is mainly local residents and still maintains an authentically Costa Rican atmosphere. The district has a population of around 1,800 people.

Carrillo Airport is an airport serving Puerto Carrillo, a Pacific coastal village in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica. The airport and village are east of Sámara village. Facilities The airport has a grass landing strip and a covered shelter that is occasionally used to weigh luggage before boarding. There are no amenities nearby. As of 2024, the airport has not been in use for several years and remains closed. Leo Carrillo State Park
Leo Carrillo State Park is a state park in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Situated along the Malibu coast, the park is a component of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. With of beach, the parkland stretches into the Santa Monica Mountains. The park has expanded into Ventura County and also includes management of County Line Beach. California State Route 1 runs through the park, where it intersects with the western terminus of the Mulholland Highway. The park was established in 1953. It is named for actor and conservationist Leo Carrillo (1880–1961), who served on the State Parks commission. Carrillo (crater)
Carrillo is a small Lunar craters, lunar impact crater located near the eastern limb of the Moon. In this location the crater is subject to lunar libration effects, and appears highly oval due to foreshortening. It is located on the slope of highlands on the west side of Mare Smythii, and its inner wall is wider on the western side than to the east. USS Carrillo
USS ''Carrillo'' (ID-1406) was a United States Navy cargo ship in commission from 1918 to 1919. SS ''Carrillo'' was built as a commercial passenger-cargo ship in 1911 at Belfast, Ireland, by Workman, Clark and Company. The United States Shipping Board transferred her to the U.S. Navy for World War I service on 16 September 1918. The Navy assigned her the naval registry Identification Number (Id. No.) 1406 and commissioned her the same day as USS ''Carrillo''. Assigned to the Cruiser and Transport Force, ''Carrillo'' made four voyages to France during and after the war, carrying meats, motor trucks, aviation supplies, and artillery to American forces operating in Europe. On 15 April 1919, she returned to the United States at Staten Island, New York, from the last of these voyages. ''Carrillo'' was decommissioned on 28 April 1919.
