Carrie (digital Library)
Carrie is an online digital library project based at the University of Kansas containing full-text books and documents. The site became operational in 1993, and has the distinction of being among the first university-library hosted sites for full on-line texts. The site, named after the university's first professional librarian, evolved from an earlier collection of online resources. The University of Kansas (KU) is a public research university with its main campus in Lawrence, Kansas, United States. Lynx is a customizable text-based web browser for use on cursor-addressable character cell terminals. , it is the oldest web browser still being maintained, having started in 1992. History Lynx was a product of the Distributed Computing Group within Academic Computing Services of the University of Kansas. It was initially developed in 1992 by a team of students and staff at the university ( Lou Montulli, Michael Grobe and Charles Rezac) as a hypertext browser used solely to distribute campus information as part of a ''Campus-Wide Information System'' and for browsing the Gopher space.
