Carpe Diem (Joker Out Song)
"Carpe Diem" (, ; ) is a song by Slovene pop rock band Joker Out, released on 4 February 2023. The song represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, after the band was internally selected on 8 December 2022 by , Slovenia's broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest. The song finished in fifth place in the second semi-final and qualified for the final, where it finished in 21st place with 78 points. The song peaked at number one in Slovenia and reached the top ten in Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden. Production and release Recording for the song took place within the month of December 2022 in a Hamburg, Germany studio over a 12-day period, according to an Instagram post that the band had posted. The band has stated that they had wanted to keep the entire song in the Slovene language, saying that "we want to translate Slovenian into a universal language of dance and entertainment that all countries understand." Joker Out
Joker Out is a five-member Slovenian indie rock band formed in 2016, who describe their genre as 'Shagadelic Rock n' Roll.' They had represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Carpe Diem", placing 21st. Their discography includes two studio albums: ''Umazane misli'' (2021), and ''Demoni'' (2022). Career 2016–2021: Formation and ''Umazane misli'' The group was formed in May 2016 after the breakup of Apokalipsa, which included Bojan Cvjetićanin, Martin Jurkovič, Matic Kovačič and Luka Škerlep. Three of them (Cvjetićanin, Jurkovič, and Kovačič) were joined by Kris Guštin and Jan Peteh from Buržuazija, and Joker Out was born. The Polish music charts are provided by ZPAV, the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (Polish: Związek Producentów Audio-Video). Albums charts In the 1970s and the 1980s, Polish music monthly ''Non Stop'' published a year-end list of the best selling albums in Poland. In the mid-1990s, two monthly sales lists were launched and published in music magazines. The first one was a top 50 compiled by ZPAV, based on shipment, not sales, which continues to be published to date. The other was a top 100 called Gorąca Setka (English: Hot 100), printed monthly in ''Gazeta Muzyczna''. This chart was compiled from actual sale figures as reported by over 130 music shops across Poland and included both albums and singles. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. Lithuanian Neighbouring Rights Association ( lt, Lietuvos gretutinių teisių asociacija), known as AGATA, is a non-profit performance rights organization established in 1999 that deals with the licensing and rights of music publishers and performers in Lithuania.
