Caroline Krook
Caroline Krook (born 18 November 1944 in Stockholm) is a retired Swedish bishop in the Church of Sweden. In 1990 she was appointed as Dean of Storkyrkan. Biography Krook was ordained priest in 1969 for the Diocese of Lund and was appointed a prison chaplain in Malmö, the first female to do so in Sweden. The Diocese of Stockholm ( sv, Stockholms stift) is a division of the Church of Sweden. Its cathedral is Storkyrkan in Stockholm's Old Town. The diocese covers most of metropolitan Stockholm and was formed in 1942 from parts of the medieval dioceses of Strängnäs and Uppsala, both pre-dating the foundation of Stockholm. Henrik Svenungsson
Lars Henrik Sigfrid Svenungsson (30 May 1933 - 6 December 2017) was a Swedish prelate of the Church of Sweden who was Bishop of Stockholm between 1988 and 1998 and later chaplain of the Royal Household from 1997 till 2007. Biography Svenungsson was born on 30 May 1933 in Gothenburg, Sweden, the son of governor Gunnar Svenungsson. He was ordained priest on 20 December 1959 in Kalmar. Throughout his priestly work, he worked for ecumenism and international cooperation. Since the beginning of the 1970s, Svenungsson had been involved in the ecumenical work in Europe, including in the European Church Conference where he has been a member of the Central Committee for some time. Eva Brunne
Gerd Eva Cecilia Brunne (born 7 March 1954) is a bishop in the Church of Sweden. She served as the Bishop of Stockholm from 2009 till 2019. She is the first openly lesbian bishop of a mainstream church in the world and the first bishop of the Church of Sweden to be in a registered same-sex partnership. Education and early career Brunne was born in Malmö, where she also grew up, on 7 March 1954. Following college, she became a theology student at Lund University. She was ordained as a priest in 1978 and started serving in the Diocese of Lund, comprising Sweden's southernmost provinces of Blekinge and Scania. Storkyrkan
Storkyrkan (, ), also called Stockholms domkyrka (Stockholm Cathedral) and Sankt Nikolai kyrka (Church of Saint Nicholas), is the oldest church in Stockholm. Storkyrkan lies in the centre of Stockholm in Gamla stan, between Stockholm Palace and Stortorget, the old main square of Stockholm. It was consecrated to Saint Nicholas in 1306 but construction of the church probably started in the 13th century. Inside, Storkyrkan still maintains much of its late medieval appearance in the form of a hall church with a vaulted ceiling supported by brick pillars. The exterior of the church is however uniformly Baroque in appearance, the result of extensive changes made in the 18th century. The Diocese of Lund ( sv, Lunds stift) is a diocese within the Church of Sweden which corresponds to the provinces of Blekinge and Skåne.
