Carnobacterium
''Carnobacterium'' is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria within the family Carnobacteriaceae. ''C. divergens'' and ''C. maltaromaticum'' are found in the wild and in food products and can grow anaerobically. These species are not known to be pathogenic in humans, but may cause disease in fish. A species of ''Carnobacterium'', ''C. maltaromaticum'' strain CB1, has been evaluated under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, as a food additive for vacuum- or modified atmosphere-packaged ready-to-eat meat and fresh comminuted, processed meat. Based on the hazard and exposure considerations, the risk assessment conducted by Health Canada concluded that ''C. maltaromaticum'' strain CB1 is not considered to be toxic to the Canadian environment or human health as described in Section 64 of CEPA 1999. ''Carnobacterium'' sp. has also been found in the gut of stingles carrion-eating vulture bees, besides other acidophilic Acidophiles or acidophilic organisms are those that th ... Carnobacterium Pleistocenium
''Carnobacterium pleistocenium'' is a recently discovered bacterium from the arctic part of Alaska. It was found in permafrost, seemingly frozen there for 32,000 years. Melting the ice, however, brought these extremophiles back to life. This is the first case of an organism "coming back to life" from ancient ice. These bacterial cells were discovered in a tunnel dug by the Army Corps of Engineers in the 1960s to allow scientists to study the permafrost in preparation for the construction of the Trans-Alaska pipeline system. The discovery of this bacterium is of particular interest for NASA, for it may be possible for such life to exist in the permafrost of Mars or on the surface of Europa. It is also of interest for scientist A scientist is a person who conducts scientific research to advance knowledge in an area of the natural sciences. In classical antiquity, there was no real ancient analog of a modern scientist. Instead, philosophers engaged in the philosophica ... ...
