''Carnivorous Erection'' is the second full-length album by goregrind band Regurgitate. It was released on 20 October 2000 by Relapse Records. The picture LP version was released in 2001 by Morbid Records. The album cover was named the worst album cover of all time by the staff of Pitchfork and was named one of 50 "most controversial and hard rock album covers" by Loudwire. Regurgitate was a Swedish goregrind band that included members from both Stockholm and Mjölby. The band formed in 1990 and ended in 2009, and released four full-length albums. They were one of the most notable practitioners in the goregrind genre, with their most famous album being '' Carnivorous Erection'' (2000). Goregrind is a fusion genre of grindcore and death metal. British band Carcass are commonly credited for the emergence of the genre. Relapse Records is an American independent record label based in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Matthew F. Jacobson in 1990. The label features many grindcore, death metal, metalcore and sludge metal artists. History The label was started by Matthew F. Jacobson in August 1990 in his parents' basement in Aurora, Colorado. The first two releases on the label were 7-inch singles by the bands Velcro Overdose and Face of Decline, Apparition 7" came next R003closely followed by three death metal bands that would become among the biggest on the label, Deceased, Suffocation, and Incantation.
