Carlos Zegarra (footballer)
Carlos Alberto Zegarra Zamora (born 2 March 1977, in Lima) is a retired Peruvian footballer. He gained 24 caps for Peru; his older brother Pablo also played for the national team. Club career Zegarra started his youth career in the famous Academia Cantolao He had played in several Peruvian clubs including Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal. International career Zegarra has made 24 appearances for the Peru national football team. He returned to the Peru national team after a six-year absence on 23 May 2012 in a friendly match at home against Nigeria, at the age of 35. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Antonio "Toñito" Gonzales (born 16 May 1986) is a Peruvian footballer who currently is a free agent and last played for Pirata F.C. in the Peruvian second tier. He plays as a defensive midfielder. He was referred as the successor of José Luis Carranza because of the passion and love with which he defends his team. Sergio Apraham Markarián Abrahamián (born 1 November 1944) is a Uruguayan-Argentine former football coach of Armenian descent. In 2015, he was the head coach of the Greece national football team. Early life Markarián lived in Argentina during most of his childhood and adolescent years, from 7 to 18 years of age. He played football as a left center back defender until he was 17 years of age. Never making it to professional football, he entered into university studies and started working in a large fuel distribution company in Uruguay, eventually reaching the post of general manager. It was the Uruguay loss against Holland in the 1974 FIFA World Cup which spurred Markarian to realise that coaching football was his vocation.
