Carlos Terán Díaz (born 24 September 2000) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire. Club career Born in Turbo, Colombia, Terán began his career with Categoría Primera A club Envigado. He made his professional debut for the club on 30 January 2019 against Deportivo Pasto, starting in a 1–1 draw. He ended his first season with Envigado appearing in 13 matches, starting 12. Chicago Fire On 21 August 2020, Terán joined American Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire. He made his debut on 28 October, in a 2–1 league defeat against the Philadelphia Union, coming on as a 78th minute substitute. On 29 April 2023, Terán extended his contract with Chicago until the end of 2026, with a club option for the 2027 season. Terán underwent a successful surgery on his right knee in January 2024. Turbo, Colombia
Turbo is a port city in Antioquia Department, Colombia. Part of the Urabá Antioquia sub-region, it is located on the coast of Gulf of Urabá, 340 km north of Medellín (the department capital and second largest city). This port city is the capital of the Urabá region of Antioquia. The place where Turbo is today was known as Pisisí, but by 1741 people were already talking about Turbo. By a decree on May 11, 1839, the central government spent one thousand pesos for military service barracks in Turbo. In 1840, the republican president assigned one thousand fanegas of uncultivated lands for the new population. It was established as a municipality in 1847. Turbo lies near the southeastern tip of the Darién Gap and is the northern terminus of the main route of the Pan-American Highway in South America. The Argentina Olympic football team (Argentina U-23 since 1992) represents Argentina in international football competitions during Olympic Games and Pan American Games. The selection is limited to players under the age of 23, except three overage players. The team is controlled by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The first participation of Argentina in Olympic tournaments was in 1928, when the team was runner-up to champions Uruguay at the Games held in Amsterdam. By those times, rules stated that only amateur squads could compete, so Argentina (and also Uruguay) played with senior players so football was still not professional in those countries by then. 2023 Chicago Fire FC Season
The 2023 Chicago Fire FC season was the club's 25th year of existence, as well as their 26th in Major League Soccer. On May 8, 2023, the Fire formally fired their head coach Ezra Hendrickson and assistant coach Junior Gonzalez after the club went 2-3-5 through their first ten games. Assistant coach Frank Klopas was named interim coach for the third time in his career, following stints in 2011 (which led to him retaining the job for two more years) and 2021. Notably, the Fire saw their largest turnout in club history on the October 4 match against Inter Miami, selling out Soldier Field with 62,124 in attendance. 2021 Major League Soccer Season
The 2021 Major League Soccer season was the 26th season of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. The 2021 season included the addition of Austin FC as an expansion club, which took the league to 27 teams. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the season was originally scheduled to begin on April 3, as opposed to the normal late February or early March start. This was later pushed back to April 16, the latest ever start to an MLS season, due to negotiations with the MLS Players Association for a new collective bargaining agreement. The regular season concluded on November 7. The 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs began on November 20, and concluded with MLS Cup 2021 on December 11.
