Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Carlos Ruiz Zafón (; 25 September 1964 – 19 June 2020) was a Spanish novelist known for his 2001 novel ''La sombra del viento'' ('' The Shadow of the Wind''). Biography Ruiz Zafón was born in Barcelona. His grandparents had worked in a factory and his father sold insurance. Ruiz Zafón began his working life in advertising. In the 1990s he moved to Los Angeles where he worked briefly in screen writing. He was fluent in English. Ruiz Zafón died of colorectal cancer in Los Angeles on 19 June 2020. Literary career Ruiz Zafón's first novel, ''El príncipe de la niebla'' 1993 (''The Prince of Mist'', published in English in 2010), earned the Edebé literary prize for young adult fiction. He was also the author of three additional young adult novels, ''El palacio de la medianoche'' (1994), '' Las luces de septiembre'' (1995) and ''Marina'' (1999). ''The Labyrinth of the Spirits'' (original title: ''El laberinto de los espíritus'') is a fiction novel by Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafón. This is the fourth and final book in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series. The novel was initially released on 17 November 2016 in Spain and Latin America by Planeta Group. HarperCollins published the English translation by Lucia Graves on September 18, 2018. The book was translated into more than 36 languages. Plot Daniel Sempere and Fermín Romero de Torres again appear in the novel set in the Barcelona of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Ottakar's
Ottakar's was a chain of bookshops in the United Kingdom founded in 1987 by James Heneage. Following a takeover by the HMV Group in 2006, the chain was merged into the Waterstone's brand. History James Heneage established the Ottakar's chain in 1987, taking inspiration from ''The Adventures of Tintin'' book '' King Ottokar's Sceptre''. He saw a lucrative market in small towns that lacked a Waterstones branch and opened stores in Loughborough, Brighton, Banbury, Salisbury and Trowbridge. A number of Ottakar's stores drew on the Tintin connection and had walls painted with scenes from the series. Póvoa de Varzim (, ) is a Portuguese city in Northern Portugal and sub-region of Greater Porto, from its city centre. The Fernando Lara Novel Award ( es, Premio Fernando Lara de Novela, links=no) is given annually in Spain by the José Manuel Lara Foundation and the Planeta publishing house to an unpublished novel in the Spanish language. The publication of the finalist (runner-up) work is not expected, although it is sometimes published by Planeta itself (as in the case of ''The Shadow of the Wind'' by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, finalist in 2000).
