Carlos Palau (born March 4, 1959) is a Spanish former racing driver. He started racing in motorbikes switching to cars in 1986 racing at Spanish Renault Turbo Cup. He had a long term relation with Ford working in the development of the Mondeo 4x4 FIA II supertourer. He joined Ford UK team in 1994 FIA Supertouring World Championship at Donington. He raced 3 times in 24 Hours of Le Mans winning GT Class in 1994 with Porsche. In GT Class he raced with big brands as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lister and Saleen. With Saleen he won the Spanish GT2 Championship in 1999 and Spanish GT Championship in 2001. 1994 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 62nd Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 18 and 19 June 1994. The 1994 race was won by a car that had its roots in a 10-year-old design. Porsche exploited an unusual quirk in the GT regulations at the time, using German fashion magnate Jochen Dauer in a plan to have a street-legal version of the dated Porsche 962 built. Using this road car design, Porsche entered two converted 962 chassis in the GT category as Dauers. With factory support, the Dauer 962 was able to take the win, the other 962 coming in a close third. Toyota, having themselves dusted off a pair of Group C chassis after its 3.5-litre engined TS010 was no longer eligible, suffered transmission problems with 90 minutes to go, leaving Eddie Irvine to finish 2nd in his 94C-V. Spanish GT Championship
The Spanish GT Championship / Iber GT (''Campeonato de España de GT / Iber GT'') was a Spanish auto racing series founded in 1999 and organised by the GT Sport Organización. The series runs multiple classes of grand tourer cars in events around Spain and Portugal. The series later formed the basis for the International GT Open, a European-wide series which follows a similar structure. Format For racing events, Spanish GT has changed very little since its inception. Each event consists of two races of equal distance, one run on Saturday and the other on Sunday. Each race has its own qualifying session to determine the grid. The races both count towards the points championship, effectively doubling the series schedule.
