Carlos Manuel Zecca
Carlos Manuel Zecca Sequeira (24 August 1922 — 21 February 2008) was a Costa Rican businessman and baseball executive who was the president of the International Baseball Federation (FIBA) from 1952 to 1969. Zecca's sixteen-year tenure as president of FIBA is the longest in international baseball history. Career During his tenure as FIBA president, Zecca organized several regional baseball tournaments, including one in 1956 that saw multiple Central American and Caribbean countries participate. He served as the president of the Costa Rican Baseball Federation starting in 1960. Zecca attempted to centralize the organization, inspired by the example set by the Confederation of European Baseball in 1955. World Baseball Softball Confederation
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the international Sports governing body, governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, Baseball5 and Blind baseball. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure, the IBAF and ISF serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions, respectively. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board. Avery Brundage
Avery Brundage (; September 28, 1887 – May 8, 1975) was the fifth president of the International Olympic Committee, serving from 1952 to 1972, the only American and first non-European to attain that position. Brundage is remembered as a zealous advocate of amateurism and for his involvement with the 1936 and 1972 Summer Olympics, both held in Germany. Brundage was born in Detroit in 1887 to a working-class family. When he was five years old, his father moved his family to Chicago and subsequently abandoned his wife and children. Raised mostly by relatives, Brundage attended the University of Illinois to study engineering and became a track star. He competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics, where he participated in the pentathlon and decathlon, but did not win any medals; both events were won by teammate Jim Thorpe. The 1969 Amateur World Series was the 17th edition of the Amateur World Series international baseball tournament. It was held, for the first time, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from August 15 through August 26, 1969. The 1961 Amateur World Series was the 15th edition of the Amateur World Series of international baseball.It was the only one held in Costa Rica, taking place in San Jose from April 7 through April 21, 1961.
