Carlos Luis De Ribera Y Fieve
Carlos Luis de Ribera y Fieve (1815, Rome – April 14, 1891, Madrid) was a Spanish painter, son of Juan Antonio Ribera. Early life and education Baptismal godparents were the former king Charles IV of Spain, King Charles IV and Maria Luisa of Parma. Carlos Luis studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. His talent was recognized at the age of fifteen in 1830, when he won first prize in the Academy's contest for his portrait painting ''Vasco Núñez de Balboa''. He also received a pension, which allowed him to pursue his higher studies in Rome and Paris. There, he studied under the French painter Paul Delaroche. The conversion of Paul the Apostle (also the Pauline conversion, Damascene conversion, Damascus Christophany and Paul's transformation on the road to Damascus) was, according to the New Testament, an event in the life of Saul/Paul the Apostle that led him to cease persecuting early Christians and to become a follower of Jesus. Enrique Lafuente Ferrari
Enrique Lafuente Ferrari (23 February 1898–25 September 1985) was a Spanish art historian, specialising in Spanish painting, mainly Velázquez, Goya and Zuloaga. Early life and education Born in Madrid, he studied history and pure philosophy before graduating with a history doctorate from the University of Madrid. While studying for that doctorate, he met the art historians Elías Tormo and Manuel Gómez-Moreno (coming to consider himself their pupil) as well as Claudio Sánchez Albornoz, Antonio Ballesteros Beretta and José Ortega y Gasset. He was also influenced by the German scholars Werner Weisbach and Erwin Panofsky. San Francisco El Grande Basilica, Madrid
The Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great () is a Roman Catholic church in central Madrid, Spain, located in the neighborhood of Palacio. The main façade faces the Plaza of San Francisco, at the intersection of Bailén, the Gran Vía de San Francisco, and the Carrera de San Francisco. It forms part of the convent of Jesús y María of the Franciscan order. The convent was founded in the 13th century at the site of a chapel. The building was erected on the plot previously occupied by a primitive Franciscan convent (according to tradition founded by the very same Francis of Assisi in 1217), demolished on the occasion upon orders by Charles III, who sought to build a new convent from scratch. It was designed in a Neoclassic style in the second half of the 18th century, based on a design by Francisco Cabezas, developed by Antonio Pló, and completed by Francesco Sabatini.
