Carlos G. Muñiz
Carlos Genaro Muñiz (born June 25, 1969) is the chief justice on the Florida Supreme Court. He was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 22, 2019. Previously, he was general Counsel of the United States Department of Education. Early life and education Muñiz graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1987, and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1991. From 1991 to 1994, Muñiz was a civil rights analyst at the United States Department of Justice. He received a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 1997. Career After graduating from law school, Muñiz clerked for Judge Thomas Aquinas Flannery of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, from 1997 to 1998, and for Judge José A. Six members are chosen from six districts around the state to foster geographic diversity, and one is selected at large.
