Carlo Valdes
Carlo Valdes (born February 11, 1990) is an American bobsledder. He competed in the four-man event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Valdes graduated from UCLA in 2013 with a B.A. in History. At UCLA, he played wide receiver in football until his transition to track and field, where he competed as a decathlete. He mainly competed in Javelin for the rest of his time at UCLA. His father is of Mexican descent. Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (formerly the FIBT). The first bobsleds were built in the late 19th century in St. Moritz, Switzerland, by wealthy tourists from Victorian Britain who were staying at the Badrutt's Palace Hotel, Palace Hotel owned by Caspar Badrutt.
