Carla Cordua
Carla Cordua (born 25 December 1925) is a Chilean philosopher. Life Cordua was born in Los Ángeles, Chile on Christmas Day, 1925. She entered the University of Chile in 1948 and studied under Bogumil Jasinowski and Oscar Marín. In 2006 she received the Jorge Millas Award for academic merit from the Austral University of Chile. Los Ángeles () is the capital of the province of Bío Bío, in the commune of the same name, in Bío Bío, in the center-south of Chile. It is located between the Laja and Biobío rivers. Jorge Millas Award
The Jorge Millas Award () was instituted in 1996 to remember the work of the distinguished intellectual (1917–1982), an academic at the University of Chile and dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Austral University of Chile. The recognition consists of an economic stimulus, a commemorative medal with the effigy of the philosopher, and an official diploma. It is given by the Austral University of Chile on a biennial basis. National Prize For Humanities And Social Sciences (Chile)
The National Prize for Humanities and Social Sciences () was created in Chile in 1992 under Law 19169. It is granted "to the humanist, scientist, or academic, who has distinguished himself for his contribution in the field of Human Sciences" (Article 8 of the aforementioned law). The history field has its own National Award. The prize, which is awarded every two years, consists of a diploma, the sum of 6,576,457 pesos () which is adjusted every year, according to the previous year's consumer price index, and a pension of 20 (approximately US$1,600). Roberto Torretti (February 15, 1930 – November 12, 2022) was a Chilean philosopher, author and academic who was internationally renowned for his contributions to the history of philosophy, philosophy of physics and philosophy of mathematics. Biography Torretti received a doctorate from the University of Freiburg under the supervision of Wilhelm Szilasi in 1954. Shortly thereafter he began lecturing in philosophy and psychology at the Institute of Education of the University of Chile in Valparaíso. He also worked for the United Nations before commencing an academic career that lasted for more than forty years, during which he taught philosophy in the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Chile.
