Carl-Gustaf Ståhl
Major General Carl-Gustaf Ståhl (15 November 1920 – 11 April 2016) was a Swedish Army officer. Ståhl's military career began in 1940 when he joined the Military Academy Karlberg in Stockholm, graduating in 1942 as a second lieutenant. Over the years, he underwent further training and rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities within the Swedish military. Notably, he commanded the third Swedish battalion in Cyprus as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force and later served as a military attaché in Washington, D.C., and Ottawa. Promoted to major general in 1972, he held significant roles in the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration before entering the reserves in 1982. Eksjö
Eksjö is a locality and the seat of Eksjö Municipality in Jönköping County, Sweden, with 9,701 inhabitants in 2010. History The city of Eksjö most likely appeared sometime in the Middle Ages when it was the centre for the thing, a regional council. It is first mentioned on April 22, 1345, under the name "Ekesiö" in an estate sale court protocol. It was given its charter in 1403 by the King Erik av Pommern. In the 16th century Eksjö was one of the six Swedish cities in the province of Småland. The others were Jönköping, Kalmar, Västervik, Växjö and Vimmerby. After the crowning of King Gustav Vasa in 1524, the partisan leader Nils Dacke led a rebellion. Dacke took control of the area and was supported by the locals, also in Eksjö. Jonas Wærn
Carl Jonas Wærn (23 July 1915 – 6 November 2003) was a Swedish Army officer best known for having commanded Swedish, Irish, and Indian peacekeeping troops during the Congo Crisis. He also commanded Swedish forces in Cyprus in 1964. Wærn is one of only two Swedish officers (the other being Brigadier General Jan-Gunnar Isberg) who have served as brigade commanders in combat under the auspices of the United Nations. Later, he served as '' aide-de-camp'' to King Gustaf VI Adolf and as cabinet chamberlain. Wærn embarked on a military career beginning in 1936, eventually becoming a captain in the Värmland Regiment by 1945. Army Staff (, Ast) is the Staff (military), staff of the Chief of Army (Sweden), Chief of the Swedish Army. It was originally established in 1937. Upper Norrland Military District (, Milo ÖN), originally VI Military District () was a Sweden, Swedish Military district (Sweden), military district, a command of the Swedish Armed Forces that had operational control over Upper Norrland, for most time of its existence corresponding to the area covered by the counties of Västerbotten County, Västerbotten and Norrbotten County, Norrbotten. The headquarters of Milo ÖN were located in Boden, Sweden, Boden. General Staff Corps (, Gst) was an administrative corps within the Swedish Armed Forces between 1937 and 1990 and consisted of Swedish Army officers chosen for duty in the Defence Staff and Army Staff. It replaced the earlier General Staff. History The General Staff Corps was established on 1 July 1937. Besides adjutants and staff adjutants, it consisted of: 1 colonel (also Chief of the Army Staff), 1 colonel, 5 lieutenant colonels, 12 majors and 34 captains. Artillery and Engineering College (, AIHS) was a Swedish Army training establishment active between 1878 and 1992, providing courses for artillery officers. It was located within the Stockholm Garrison in Stockholm, Sweden. History The Higher Artillery School (''Högre artilleriläroverket'') at Marieberg was established in 1818. It was initially intended only for the training of artillery officers but after 1830 it was extended gradually to a staff college for the entire armed forces. The Swedish Engineer Troops (, I) is the engineer branch of the Swedish Army. The branch was formed after the Defence Act of 1936. It provides military engineering and other technical support to the Swedish Armed Forces.
