Carinthia S-Bahn
The Carinthia S-Bahn () is a regional transport system in the Austrian state of Carinthia and East Tyrol. The system is operated by the ÖBB, the national railway company. History The Carinthia S-Bahn network was launched on 12 December 2010. The first line in operation was the S1, running hourly between and via , with a half-hourly frequency between and . Two other lines were planned for 2011: the S2, running hourly between and St. Veit an der Glan via ; and the S3, running hourly between and Klagenfurt. Further expansion from Klagenfurt to depended on the construction of the Koralm Railway. The S3 began operation on 1 August 2011 between Klagenfurt and , with connecting bus service to Feistritz im Rosental and other destinations. Carinthia
Carinthia ( ; ; ) is the southernmost and least densely populated States of Austria, Austrian state, in the Eastern Alps, and is noted for its mountains and lakes. East Tyrol
East Tyrol, occasionally East Tirol (), is an exclave of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol, separated from North Tyrol by parts of Salzburg State and parts of Italian South Tyrol (''Südtirol'', ). It is coterminous with the administrative district ('' Bezirk'') of Lienz. The Rudolf Railway (German: ''Rudolfsbahn'') refers to a railway in Austria connecting Amstetten and the Italian border near Tarvisio, along with a branch from Kastenreith to St. Valentine. Its name is derived from the ''k.k. priv. Kronprinz Rudolf-Bahn Gesellschaft'' ( Imperial–royal, "privileged"—by the grant of a concession— Crown Prince Rudolf Railway Company, ''KRB'').
