Alan Cardy
Alan Cardy (19 September 1945 – 19 December 2021) was a representative of in rugby union. As a young man he concentrated on track and field, winning the Australian Junior Championships discus throw in 1963, aged just seventeen. In 1965, he ran 22.0 seconds in the 220 yards to finish third at the Australian National Championships – one-tenth of a second ahead of Peter Norman, the future silver medallist in the 200 metres at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Cardy did not play any rugby until 1963 in his final year at Katoomba High School, where he was school captain. He played a few games for the Blue Mountains Rugby Club during 1962 and 1963, and later joined Drummoyne in 1965. Dominic William Cardy (born 25 July 1970) is a Canadian politician, leader of the Canadian Future Party and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick (2018–2024) and provincial cabinet minister (2018–2022). From the 2018 New Brunswick general election until his expulsion from the caucus in October 2022, Cardy represented the electoral district of Fredericton West-Hanwell for the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Robert Black (serial Killer)
Robert Black (21 April 1947 – 12 January 2016) was a Scottish serial killer and paedophile who was convicted of the kidnap, rape and murder of four girls aged between 5 and 11 in a series of crimes committed between 1981 and 1986 in the United Kingdom. Black was convicted of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of three girls on 19 May 1994. He was also convicted of the kidnapping of a fourth girl and had earlier been convicted of the kidnapping and sexual assault of a fifth. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a recommendation that he serve a minimum of 35 years. In 2011, Black was further convicted of the 1981 sexual assault and murder of nine-year-old Jennifer Cardy. John Lawrence Cardy FRS (born 19 March 1947, England) is a British– American theoretical physicist. He is best known for his work in theoretical condensed matter physics and statistical mechanics, and in particular for research on critical phenomena and two-dimensional conformal field theory. He was an undergraduate and postgraduate student (now an Honorary Fellow) at Downing College, Cambridge, before moving to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he joined the faculty in 1977.
