Cardiff Dragons (netball)
Cardiff Dragons are a Welsh netball team based in Cardiff. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. Their best performance in the Superleague came in 2013 when they finished as runners up to Team Bath. Playing as Celtic Flames, Dragons also played in the 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club. Cardiff Dragons main partners include the Welsh Netball Association, the Wales national netball team and Cardiff Metropolitan University. 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club
The 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club was the inaugural Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. With a team coached by Reinga Bloxham, captained by Wendy Frew and featuring Gina Crampton, Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, Shannon Francois, and Jane Watson, Southern Steel finished the tournament as inaugural winners. Steel went through the tournament unbeaten, defeating Northern Mystics 79–58 in the final. All the matches were hosted at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson between 2 July and 7 July 2007. All the matches were broadcast live on Sky Sport (New Zealand). Teams The tournament featured eight teams. Sport Wales National Centre
The Sport Wales National Centre ( cy, Canolfan Genedlaethol Chwaraeon Cymru) is a sports facility in Cardiff, Wales, set up to assist the development of elite athletes in Wales. The Centre, owned and operated by Sport Wales, was established by the then Sports Council for Wales in 1971 as the National Sports Centre for Wales. Renamed the Welsh Institute of Sport in 1994, it has been known as the Sport Wales National Centre since April 2010. The Centre is located in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff and opened on 30 October 1971, with the official opening by Her Royal Highness the Princess Anne on 12 June 1972. Cardiff City Stadium
The Cardiff City Stadium ( cy, Stadiwm Dinas Caerdydd) is a stadium in the Leckwith area of Cardiff, Wales. It is the home of Cardiff City Football Club and the Wales national football team. Following expansion of the Ninian Stand in July 2014, the stadium officially holds 33,280 supporters. The stadium replaced Ninian Park as Cardiff City's home ground in 2009, and is managed by Cardiff City Stadium Ltd., which is owned by Cardiff City Football Club Holdings Ltd. It also hosted the home matches of the Cardiff Blues rugby union team until the 2011–12 season, although originally the Blues had a lease until 2029. University Of Worcester Arena
The University of Worcester Arena, commonly referred to as Worcester Arena, is a multi-purpose sports venue and events arena in Worcester, England. The 2,000-seat capacity venue opened in April 2013 and is the home arena of Worcester Wolves basketball team, whilst also being a national centre of excellence for disability sports. Plans for the construction of a new sports arena were first unveiled in January 2010 after the University of Worcester had purchased land on Hylton Road used previously as a fruit and vegetable market. Initial reports indicated the capacity of the new venue would seat 1,500 people, cost £10 million and would be due to open in the Spring of 2012. 2013 Netball Superleague Grand Final
The 2013 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Team Bath and Celtic Dragons. Team Bath secured their fifth Netball Superleague title in eight years with a victory over Dragons. Dragons, who were playing their first grand final won the second quarter by two points to lead 31–30 at half-time. However Team Bath fought back and entered the final quarter with a two-point advantage at 46–44. Although Dragons kept themselves in the game with three successive goals, Team Bath stretched clear in the final two minutes to win it. Netball At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Netball was one of the ten core sports at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which was held on the Gold Coast in Australia. This was the sixth staging of netball at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1998, and the second time the netball event was held in Australia. The competition took place between 5 and 15 April 2018. Preliminary matches were held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with finals matches held at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. The New Zealand national netball team, commonly known as the Silver Ferns, represent New Zealand in international netball. The team take their nickname from the Silver Tree Fern ('' Cyathea dealbata''), which is an emblem for many New Zealand sports teams. The Silver Ferns were formed in 1938 as a representative New Zealand team to tour Australia. Mainland Tactix are a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007, as Canterbury Flames, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Between 2008 and 2012 they were known as Canterbury Tactix. However, after Netball Mainland was established in October 2012, the team subsequently adopted their current name. Netball Mainland is the governing body that represents the South Island regions of Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough. Since 2017, Tactix have represented Netball Mainland in the ANZ Premiership. During the ANZ Championship era, Tactix won just 20 of their 114 games and never featured in a finals series. Temalisi Fakahokotau
Temalisi Fakahokotau (born 9 September 1994) is a New Zealand netball player of Tongan descent. She first played for the national team in 2014. Early life Fakahokotau was born in New Zealand of Tongan parents on 9 September 1994. She is one of nine siblings, and has seven brothers and one sister. She attended Westlake Girls High School in Auckland, where she was Sportswoman of the Year in 2012. She was named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Squad and represented the Northern Zone in Under-23 competition. In 2014 she joined the Northern Mystics team to compete in the ANZ Premiership.
