''Captured Live!'' is a 1976 album by Johnny Winter. The performances were recorded in 1975 at three California venues: Swing Auditorium, San Diego Sports Arena and Oakland Coliseum. Critical reception In a review for AllMusic, William Ruhlmann gave the album three and a half out of five stars. Johnny Winter
John Dawson Winter III (February 23, 1944 – July 16, 2014) was an American singer and guitarist. Winter was known for his high-energy blues rock albums and live performances in the late 1960s and 1970s. He also produced three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. After his time with Waters, Winter recorded several Grammy-nominated blues albums. In 1988, he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and in 2003, he was ranked 63rd in ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the " 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". Early life Johnny Winter was born in Beaumont, Texas, on February 23, 1944. He and younger brother Edgar (born 1946) were nurtured at an early age by their parents in musical pursuits. "Bony Moronie" was the third single by Larry Williams, released in 1957. Original version Williams' original peaked at #14 on the Billboard Best Sellers in Stores chart and #4 on the U.S. R&B chart. Since then the song has been covered many times. Hush version In April 1975, Australian glam rock band Hush released a version, which peaked at number 4. The band performed the song on Countdown. Randy Jo Hobbs (March 22, 1948 – August 5, 1993) was an American musician born in Winchester, Indiana. Hobbs played bass for The McCoys during the 1965-1969 period and in the bands of the brothers Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter during 1970-1976. Career He played bass with Jimi Hendrix on some 1968 live sessions which were later released unofficially as ''Woke Up This Morning and Found Myself Dead'' (1980) and ''New York Sessions'' (1998), and officially as '' Bleeding Heart'' (1994). Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice.
