General Thomas Edward Capel (24 March 1770 – 3 February 1855) was a British Army officer and sportsman. Thomas Edward Capel was the son of William Capel, 4th Earl of Essex, by his second wife, Harriet Bladen, and the elder brother of Rev. William Robert Capel (1775–1854). He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford, where he graduated with a BA in 1790, and was subsequently a Fellow of Merton College, Oxford. As a cricketer, Capel was mainly associated with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). William Capel
Sir William Capel (c. 1446-1515) of Capel Court in the parish of St Bartholomew-by-the-Exchange in the City of London and of Hadham Hall in the parish of Little Hadham, Hertfordshire, served as Lord Mayor of London and as a Member of Parliament for the City of London. Thomas Arthur Capel (27 June 1922 – 5 October 2009) was an English professional footballer who scored 120 goals from 276 appearances in the Football League playing for Manchester City, Chesterfield, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and Halifax Town. Admiral Sir Thomas Bladen Capel (25 August 1776 – 4 March 1853) was an officer in the British Royal Navy whose distinguished service in the French Revolutionary War, the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812 earned him rapid promotion and great acclaim both in and out of the Navy. Richard Capel (1586–1656) was an English nonconforming clergyman of Calvinist views, a member of the Westminster Assembly, and for a period of his life a practicing physician. Hans Willem Capel (3 June 1936 – 7 April 2023) was a Dutch theoretical physicist. He was a professor of theoretical physics at the Leiden University from 1979 to 1983 and subsequently the University of Amsterdam between 1983 and 1998.
