Cape Thorvaldsen ( da, Kap Thorvaldsen) is a headland in southwest Greenland in the Kujalleq municipality. Geography The cape is located southeast of Cape Desolation near the settlements of Qaqortoq and Narsaq Kujalleq (Frederiksdal). The Outer Kitsissut (Torstein Islands) lie 26 km west-north-west of the cape. Kujalleq
Kujalleq ( Greenlandic: , da, Den Syden, lit=The South) is a municipality on the southern tip of Greenland, operational from 1 January 2009. The administrative center of the municipality is in Qaqortoq (formerly called Julianehåb). Creation The municipality consists of the former municipalities of southern Greenland, each named after the biggest settlement: * Nanortalik Municipality * Narsaq Municipality * Qaqortoq Municipality In addition to the area of these municipalities, uninhabited parts of the former municipalities of Paamiut and Ammassalik were added to the new administrative entity. The Labrador Sea (French: ''mer du Labrador'', Danish: ''Labradorhavet'') is an arm of the North Atlantic Ocean between the Labrador Peninsula and Greenland. The sea is flanked by continental shelves to the southwest, northwest, and northeast. It connects to the north with Baffin Bay through the Davis Strait. It is a marginal sea of the Atlantic. The Arctic ( or ) is a polar region located at the northernmost part of Earth. Qaqortoq
Qaqortoq, formerly Julianehåb, is a city in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland, located near Cape Thorvaldsen. Narsaq Kujalleq
Narsarmijit, formerly Narsaq Kujalleq and Frederiksdal, is a settlement in southern Greenland. It is located in the Kujalleq municipality near Cape Thorvaldsen. Its population was 66 in 2020. There has been a slow but steady pattern of emigration since the late 1950s. Outer Kitsissut ( da, Ydre Kitsissut, old spelling Ydre Kitsigsut), also known as Thorstein Islands or Torstein Islands, is an island group in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. Geography Outer Kitsissut is located to the west-north-west of Cape Desolation 5 km from the shore. It is a compact cluster of small islets and rocks, with a length of 10 km and a width of 5 km. The highest and largest islet is Thorstein Island in the centre of the group, having a maximum length of about 0.7 km with a maximum height of 116 m.
