Canyons School District
Canyons School District is a school district in the southeastern portion of Salt Lake County in Utah, United States. The district includes the municipalities of Alta, Brighton, White City, Cottonwood Heights, Midvale and Sandy; as well as the portions of Draper that are within Salt Lake County. Portions of Draper within Utah County are part of the Alpine School District. Residents of those communities voted to create the district in 2007, in a split from the Jordan School District, making Canyons the first school district to be formed in the state in almost a century. Canyons has approximately 34,000 students in 50 schools as of 2014. There are 29 elementary schools, eight middle schools, five traditional high schools, and eight special programs schools, including one technical school, a special education school and a high school for adults in prison. The Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) is the Public university, public university system of the state of Utah. Jordan High School (also referred to as Jordan High or JHS ) is a public high school located in Sandy, Utah (United States) It is one of five high schools in the Canyons School District. The school was established in 1907, making it one of the oldest public high schools in the state of Utah. Timeline 1907–1914 Jordan High School took root when a student body of just seven students led by a man named Weston Morley began meeting in the basement of a church in Midvale. Corner Canyon High School
Corner Canyon High School is a public school in Draper, Utah. It is the newest high school in the Canyons School District. Its colors are navy, silver and white, and its mascot is the Chargers. History Corner Canyon High School opened in 2013. It was built at 12943 S. 700 East in Draper, Utah, using funds from a $250 million bond approved by voters in 2010. Its classroom wings are two stories tall, and it includes a lecture hall, an auditorium, a 3,300 seat gymnasium, and a football field with artificial turf. Alta High School is a secondary school in Sandy, Utah, Sandy, Utah, United States which services students from the cities of Sandy and Draper, Utah, Draper. Founded in 1978, it is part of the Canyons School District. History The school opened in 1978. The modern, two-level brick building is situated on a site with an unobstructed view of both Oquirrh Mountains, Oquirrh Mountain and Wasatch Range, Wasatch ranges. School is in session for 180 days per year on a traditional 9-month calendar. KSL-FM (102.7 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Midvale, Utah, and serving the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. KSL-FM and sister station KSL (1160 AM) simulcast a news-talk radio format. They are owned by Bonneville International, a broadcasting subsidiary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).
