Cancelled Comic Cavalcade
The "DC Explosion" and "DC Implosion" were two events in 1978 – the first an official marketing campaign, the second a sardonic reference to it – in which American comics company DC Comics expanded their roster of publications, then abruptly cut it back. The DC Explosion was part of an ongoing initiative at DC to regain market share by increasing the number of titles they published, while also increasing page counts and cover prices. The so-called "DC Implosion" was the result of the publisher experiencing losses that year due to a confluence of factors, and cancelling a large number of ongoing and planned series in response. OMAC (Buddy Blank)
OMAC (Buddy Blank) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Publication history OMAC was created by writer-artist Jack Kirby towards the end of his contract with the publisher following the cancellation of his ''New Gods'' series; it was reportedly developed strictly due to Kirby needing to fill his contractual quota of 15 pages a week. The character is inspired by Captain America, but lives in the future, an idea Kirby had conceived years earlier while at Marvel Comics but had never realized. The Last Boy On Earth
Kamandi () is a fictional comic book character created by artist Jack Kirby and published by DC Comics. The bulk of Kamandi's appearances occurred in the comic series ''Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth'', which ran from 1972 to 1978. He is a young hero living in a post-apocalyptic future. Following the Great Disaster, humans have backslid to savagery in a world ruled by intelligent, highly evolved animals. Publication history Creation DC editor Carmine Infantino had tried to acquire the license to publish ''Planet of the Apes'' comic books. After rival Marvel Comics acquired the rights, Infantino asked Jack Kirby for a series with a similar concept. The Flash (comic Book)
''The Flash'' is an ongoing American comic book series featuring the DC Comics superhero of the Flash (comics), same name. Throughout its publication, the series has primarily focused on two characters who have worn the mantle of the Flash: Barry Allen, the second Flash (1959–1985, 2010–2020), and Wally West, the third Flash (1987–2008, 2021–present). The series began at issue #105, picking up its issue numbering from the anthology series ''Flash Comics'' which had featured Flash (Jay Garrick), Jay Garrick as the first Flash.
