Canberra Chill
Canberra Chill is an Australian professional hockey club based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The club was established in 2019, and is one of 7 established to compete in Hockey Australia's new premier domestic competition, Hockey One. The club unifies both men and women under one name, unlike the Australian Capital Territory's former representation in the Australian Hockey League as the Canberra Lakers (men) and Canberra Strikers (women). Canberra Chill will compete for the first time in the inaugural season of Hockey One, which will be contested from late September through to mid November 2019. History Canberra Chill, along with six other teams, was founded on 17 April 2019 as part of Hockey Australia's development of hockey. National Hockey Centre (Canberra)
The National Hockey Centre, is a government owned outdoor field hockey stadium located in Lyneham, a northern suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. It offers three international standard water-based hockey pitches which are used for both international and domestic competition, as well as training activities. The stadium is home to the Canberra Chill men's and women's hockey teams in Hockey Australia's premier domestic league, the Sultana Bran Hockey One League. Facilities Pitches The National Hockey Centre features three international level synthetic pitches. These include the main pitch, ''Carter Field'' and two secondary pitches, ''Powell Field'' and ''Watt Field''. Carter Field and Powell Field were named in honour of Graham Carter, a member of the ACT Sport Hall of Fame, and Katrina Powell, a former Hockeyroo. Glenn Turner (born 1 May 1984) is an Australian professional field hockey player from the Australian Capital Territory. He is a member of Australia men's national field hockey team and won a gold medal with them at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. Brendan Colin Charles Hill (born 27 March 1970 in London, England) is an English-born American musician, best known as the drummer (and one of the co-founders) of the jam band Blues Traveler. History Hill is one of the original members of Blues Traveler. In 1983, while attending Princeton High School in Princeton, New Jersey, Hill met harmonica player John Popper, and they formed a group dubbed Blues Band. They played mostly at parties and saw numerous bassists and guitarists come and go. In 1987, with the addition of Chan Kinchla on guitar and Bobby Sheehan on bass, they renamed themselves "Blues Traveler".
