Canarias Regional Air
Canarias Regional Air was a Spanish charter airline based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. Company history Canarias Regional Air was founded in 1998 in an effort to compete with Binter —a subsidiary of Iberia. It began operations from Tenerife North Airport. Canarias Regional Air had an association with Air Europa Express —a now defunct subsidiary of Air Europa— for the operation of a number of British Aerospace ATP turboprop aircraft in short-haul flights between the islands. The company tried to operate as an independent airline after the agreement with Air Europa Express expired but the venture was not successful. Canarias Regional Air ceased operations in 2000, shortly after an attempt at operating charter flights with a newly acquired Boeing 737. César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport ( es, Aeropuerto de César Manrique-Lanzarote), commonly known as Lanzarote Airport and also known as ''Arrecife Airport'', is the airport serving the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The airport is located in San Bartolomé, Las Palmas, southwest of the island's capital, Arrecife. The Boeing 737 is a narrow-body aircraft produced by Boeing at its Renton Factory in Washington. Developed to supplement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retains the 707 fuselage width and six abreast seating with two underwing turbofans. Air charter is the business of renting an entire aircraft (i.e., chartering) as opposed to individual aircraft seats (i.e., purchasing a ticket through a traditional airline). Regulation Charter – also called air taxi or ad hoc – flights require certification from the associated country's civil aviation authority. The regulations are differentiated from typical commercial/passenger service by offering a non-scheduled service. Analogous regulations generally also apply to air ambulance and cargo operators, which are often also ad hoc for-hire services. Air Europa Express (legally incorporated as ''Aeronova, S.L.U.'' and previously doing business as Aeronova) is a Spanish regional low-cost airline. It is a subsidiary of Globalia (which is also the parent company of Air Europa). The airline is set to operate regional routes for Air Europa. History The airline was founded in Spain in 1996 as Aeronova and flew scheduled and charter flights on behalf of other companies.
