The Canal Street station (formerly Canal Street–Holland Tunnel) is an express metro station, station on the IND Eighth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. R211 (New York City Subway Car)
The R211 is a class of New Technology Train (NTT) subway cars built for the New York City Transit Authority. Being built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Rolling Stock Company, Kawasaki Railcar Manufacturing for the B Division (NYCS), B Division of the New York City Subway and for the Staten Island Railway (SIR), they will replace aging subway car models: all R44 (New York City Subway car), R44 cars on the SIR, plus all R46 (New York City Subway car), R46 and some R68 (New York City Subway car), R68 subway cars. The order is split into three parts: R211A and R211T cars for the subway and R211S cars for the SIR. The Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) was an urban transit holding company, based in Brooklyn, New York City, United States, and incorporated in 1923. John Francis Hylan
John Francis Hylan (April 20, 1868January 12, 1936), also known as "Red Mike" Hylan, was the 96th Mayor of New York City (the seventh since the consolidation of the five boroughs), from 1918 to 1925. From rural beginnings in the Catskills, Hylan eventually obtained work in Brooklyn as a laborer on the elevated railroad. During his nine years with the company, he worked his way to engineer, and also studied to earn his high school diploma. He continued by earning a law degree.
