2016 Canada Cup Of Curling
The 2016 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling was held from November 30 to December 4 at Westman Communications Group Place in Brandon, Manitoba. Reid Carruthers and his rink from Manitoba won the men's tournament, qualifying his team for the 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Jennifer Jones, also from Manitoba and her team won the women's event, but had already previously qualified for the Olympic Trials. Canada Cup 2016 was a fighting game event that took place in Toronto, Canada, on October 28–30. The seventh incarnation of the Canada Cup hosted 14 tournaments: games that were played at the event ranged from ''Street Fighter II Turbo'' to ''The King of Fighters XIV''. The ''Street Fighter V'' tournament held at Canada Cup 2016 was the last Premier Event of the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour: its champion NuckleDu automatically qualified to compete in the 2016 Capcom Cup. Background The sixth incarnation of the annual Canada Cup organised by Lap Chi Duong was hosted in a Holiday Inn in Toronto, Canada, on October 28–30. Canada's Cup
The Canada’s Cup is a silver trophy, deeded in perpetuity in 1896, to be awarded to the winner of a series of match races between a yacht representing a Canadian yacht club and one representing an American yacht club, both to be located on the Great Lakes. The Cup matches were intended to be a test of the challenger’s and the defender’s abilities to design and build a yacht to the prevailing measurement rule, and to sail that yacht to victory. In a departure from the original goal of the Cup to encourage racing yacht design the 2001-2011 Cup challenge races were sailed in the Farr 40, and subsequently in the 2021 and 2022 Cup challenges in the Melges IC37, both one-design class yachts.
