CanPL
The Canadian Premier League (CPL or CanPL; ) is a professional soccer league in Canada and the highest level of the Canadian soccer league system. The league comprises eight teams, from five of Canada's ten provinces. Each team plays 28 games in the regular season which is followed by playoffs culminating in the CPL Finals. The CPL champion and regular season winner earn berths in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, competing against teams from across North America, Central America and the Caribbean for a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup. All CPL teams also play in the Canadian Championship, alongside Canadian clubs from other leagues. Qualification for the CONCACAF Champions Cup is also available to CPL clubs by winning the Canadian Championship. The league was officially sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association on May 6, 2017, and has played an annual season since 2019. 2019 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2019 Canadian Premier League season was the inaugural season of the Canadian Premier League, the Canadian soccer league system, top level of Canadian Professionalism in association football, professional soccer. 2024 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2024 Canadian Premier League season was the sixth season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Soccer in Canada, Canadian soccer. Forge FC were the defending champions, having beaten Cavalry FC, the CPL Shield winners, in the 2023 Canadian Premier League final, 2023 final. The Canadian Premier League final is the annual championship game of the Canadian Premier League (CPL), the top level of Canadian soccer. It is played as a single match hosted by the winner of the first semifinal against the winner of the second semifinal at the conclusion of the league's annual playoff. CPL–U Sports Draft
The CPL–U Sports Draft () is an annual event in which Canadian Premier League clubs select players from U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. The draft allows student-athletes to play professional soccer that year without affecting their university eligibility. Rules and procedure Players are eligible to be drafted if they have one or more years of U Sports eligibility remaining and have declared for the draft. Players who signed development contracts the previous year can be retained by their CPL clubs as long as they have U Sports eligibility remaining.
