Can't Live Without It
''Can't LIVE Without It'' was the only live album release from American hardcore punk/speed metal band, Gang Green. It was recorded at The Marquee Club in London, UK on February 25, 1990, and was released by Roadrunner Records later that year. It features one line up change from their previous two albums – Josh Pappe had joined from fellow crossover thrash band, D.R.I., to replace Joe Gittleman who had been fired shortly after the release of the studio album, '' Older... Budweiser'', in 1989. After finishing a headline tour of Europe, of which this material was a part, Fritz Ericson retired, Josh Pappe got married, and long-term drummer, Brian Betzger decided to start a pool hall. Far from finishing the band, Chris Doherty assembled some replacements, including Walter Gustafson who had left the band in 1984 – only to be replaced by Betzger again seven months later. Gang Green
Gang Green is an American punk rock band originally from Braintree, Massachusetts. Chris Doherty (guitar), Bill Manley (bass) and Mike Dean (drums) started the band in 1980 and broke up in 1983. Doherty reformed Gang Green the following year, and the band experienced numerous lineup changes until its dissolution for the second time in 1992. Doherty has been the band's only constant member and has kept Gang Green active from 2005 onwards. The band was influential in the formation of the East Coast hardcore punk scene, and went on to become one of the forerunners of crossover thrash and speed metal in the late 1980s. Marquee Club
The Marquee Club was a music venue in London, England, that opened in 1958 with a range of jazz and skiffle acts. It was a small and relatively cheap club, in the heart of London's West End of London, West End. It was the location of the first live performance by the Rolling Stones on 12 July 1962. Origins The club was established by Harold Pendleton, an accountant whose love of jazz had led him to become secretary of the National Jazz Federation. Originally it was located in the Marquee Ballroom in the basement of the Academy 1-2-3 (cinema), Academy Cinema in Oxford Street, where dances had been held since the early 1950s. Roadrunner Records is a Dutch–American record label focused on Heavy metal music, heavy metal and hard rock music. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City. ''King of Bands'' is a compilation album from American hardcore punk and speed metal band, Gang Green. It was released in December, 1991 on Roadrunner Records and contained two newly recorded tracks from two-fifths of the line up who had appeared on the previous album. Josh Pappe had got married and was replaced by Kevin Brooks on bass. Fritz Ericson had retired and was replaced by Mike Lucantonio on guitar. Brian Betzger left to start a pool hall and was replaced in a touring capacity by Walter Gustafson – the drummer in the band who left in 1984. Gustafson left before this album and was replaced once again, by Brian Betzger. The material is evenly gleaned from previous albums: three tracks from ''Another Wasted Night'', two from ''You Got It'', two from the EP '' I81B4U'', and three from their last studio album, '' Older... Speed metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that originated in the late 1970s from new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) roots.K. Crossover thrash (often abbreviated to crossover) is a fusion genre of thrash metal and hardcore punk. The genre emerged in the mid-1980s, when hardcore punk bands, such as Suicidal Tendencies, Cryptic Slaughter, Corrosion of Conformity and Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, began to incorporate the influence of thrash metal. At this time, the genre was particularly prominent in the New York hardcore scene, where groups including Agnostic Front, Leeway (band), Leeway, Cro-Mags and Stormtroopers of Death were widely influential. Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (often abbreviated and referred to as D.R.I.) are an American crossover thrash band that formed in Houston, Texas in 1982 and would later relocate to San Francisco, California. The band is currently composed of two of its founding members, lead vocalist Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy, as well as bassist Greg Orr and drummer Rob Rampy.
