Viscount Camrose
Viscount Camrose, of Hackwood Park in the County of Hampshire, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 20 January 1941 for the prominent newspaper magnate William Berry, 1st Viscount Camrose, William Berry, 1st Baron Camrose. He had previously received the award of Baronet, of Long Cross in the County of Surrey, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, on 4 July 1921, and was created Baron Camrose, of Long Cross in the County of Surrey, on 19 June 1929, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. His second son, the third Viscount, Peerage Act 1963, disclaimed the peerages in 1995 on succeeding his elder brother. However, he had already been created a life peer as Baron Hartwell, of Peterborough Court in the City of London, on 19 January 1968. On his death in 2001 the life peerage became extinct while he was succeeded in the other titles by his eldest son, the fourth Viscount. Camrose, Alberta
Camrose ( ) is a city in central Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Camrose County. Located along Alberta Highway 13, Highway 13 it had its beginnings as a railroad hub. History The area around Camrose was first settled by Europeans around 1900. At that time the nearby settlement of Wetaskiwin was a major centre for pioneers; typically, it was the last stopping-off point before they set out in search of nearby land. The site that was to be Camrose was about a day's journey from Wetaskiwin along the railroad, which made it a popular place on the route of pioneers. Soon businessmen and other settlers arrived to stay. The settlers came primarily from Scandinavian countries, such as Norway and Sweden, and many settlers also came from the United States. At that time the settlement was known as the hamlet of Stoney Creek. Camrose, Pembrokeshire
Camrose () is a village, parish and community in the historic cantref of Roose () in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The community includes the villages of Keeston and Wolfsdale. Since 1987 the parish has been expanded to include the whole historic parish of Lambston (including Lambston, Sutton and Portfield Gate) and parts of Haverfordwest St Martins. Camrose is an anglicization of the Welsh ''Camros'', meaning "crooked" or "broken moor". The village contains a substantial Norman motte, which is often referred to as a "Landsker castle" although it lies far to the south (English) side of that linguistic boundary. A small area, north of Dudwell Mountain, has been Welsh-speaking in modern times but was probably English-speaking before the Enclosures at the end of the 18th century. Camrose was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1953. This riding was created in 1924 from parts of Battle River, Red Deer and Victoria ridings. It was abolished in 1953 when it was redistributed into Acadia, Battle River—Camrose, Edmonton—Strathcona, and Vegreville ridings. Camrose (provincial Electoral District)
Camrose is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district is one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member (MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. The Camrose electoral district is represented by Jackie Lovely of the United Conservative Party of Alberta. The district was originally created in 1909 and dissolved in 1993, and was re-created for the 2019 Alberta general election. From 1924 to 1956, the district used instant-runoff voting to elect its MLA. Geography The district is named for its main population centre, Camrose. Its boundaries have been adjusted many times since its creation in 1909, when it was carved from the eastern parts of Wetaskiwin and Ponoka. Between 1993 and 2019, the city of Camrose was transferred to the new district of Wetaskiwin-Camrose, and the surrounding areas were transferred to several neighbouring districts.
