Campli (Neapolitan language, Abruzzese: ') is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Teramo, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. It is located in the natural park known as the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy"). Geography The towns of Bellante, Abruzzo, Bellante, Civitella del Tronto, Sant'Omero, Teramo, Torricella Sicura, Valle Castellana are nearby. History During the 14th century, the composer Nicolaus Ricii de Nucella Campli was born presumably in or near the town. Nicolaus Ricii De Nucella Campli
Nicolaus Savini Mathei alias Ricci de Nucella Campli, (fl. 1401–1425; d. 1438 or after), also Niccolò Ricci and Nucella, was an Italian composer, singer, and scribe of the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. Only a single work by Nicolaus is known, the ballata ''De bon parole''. Life Nothing was known of this composer until the discoveries of Giuliano Di Bacco and John Nádas, published in summary form in 1998 and more completely in 2004. San Pietro is a Romanesque, Roman Catholic church in the frazione of Campovalano of the town of Campli, Province of Teramo, Region of Abruzzo, Italy. History The stone church is adjacent to ruins of a former Benedictine order. The convent was founded in the 8th century, and rebuilt in the 12th-13th century by the Premonstratensians or Norbertines, that is, monks of St Norbert. The Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park is a natural park in central Italy. I Borghi Più Belli D'Italia
() is a non-profit private association of small Italian towns of strong historical and artistic interest, that was founded in March 2001 on the initiative of the Tourism Council of the National Association of Italian Municipalities, with the aim of preserving and maintaining villages of quality heritage.
