The Camdenton R-III School District, also known as the Camdenton School District or simply Camdenton Schools, is a public school district based in Camdenton, Missouri. The district serves the city of Camdenton as well as Linn Creek, Sunrise Beach, parts of Osage Beach, and several unincorporated communities including Greenview, Hurricane Deck, Montreal, and Roach. Linn Creek, Missouri
Linn Creek is a city in Camden County, Missouri, United States. The population was 216 at the 2020 census. The original Linn Creek, which was the original county seat of Camden County, Missouri, is now under water, in the Lake of the Ozarks. Construction of the Bagnell Dam that created the lake was begun August 8, 1929. The county seat was moved to the new town of Camdenton which had its beginnings in 1931. History Linn Creek was settled in 1841 at the junction of the Niangua and Osage Rivers. It was named from the creek on which it is situated, and which was named for the many linn trees lining its banks. A skirmish took place on October 14, 1861 between Union soldiers of the 13th Illinois, Fremont Battalion (Missouri) Cavalry and Confederates of Captain William Roberts. Hurricane Deck, Missouri
Hurricane Deck is an unincorporated community in Camden County, Missouri, United States, on the Lake of the Ozarks. It is part of the lake's resort area, and according to one source is named for a tornado which struck the area, tornadoes once being called "hurricanes" locally. According to lakehistory.info, Hurricane Deck derives its name from the nautical name for the top deck of a river steamship, which is called a "Hurricane Deck" because the wind always blew up there. There is a high ridge at the location on the lake. One of the most distinctive bridges in the Lake of the Ozarks is the Hurricane Deck Bridge, which carries Route 5 across the Osage Arm of the lake. The bridge, which was completed in 1936, is one of three "upside-down" bridges where its truss support is below the road deck, enabling passengers in cars to see the lake. Ozark Conference
The Ozark Conference is a high school athletic conference represented by 11 schools in the southwest portion of Missouri. As the name implies, all eleven schools are in the Ozarks region of the state and all are among the biggest in the region (only West Plains and Hillcrest are not Class 5 in basketball). The conference offers championships for girls in Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball.
