Camden is the largest city in and the county seat of Kershaw County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 7,764 in the 2020 census, and the 2022 population estimate is 8,213. It is part of the Columbia, South Carolina, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Camden is the oldest inland city in South Carolina, and home to the Carolina Cup and the National Steeplechase Museum. Hamlet Subdivision
The Hamlet Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in North Carolina and South Carolina. The line runs from Hamlet, North Carolina, to Columbia, South Carolina, for a total of 105.2 miles. At its north end it continues south from the Hamlet Terminal Subdivision and at its south end it continues south as the Columbia Subdivision. The Hamlet Subdivision runs along CSX's S Line. The line notably carries Amtrak's ''Silver Star'' which travels from New York to Florida. The Seaboard Air Line Railroad , known colloquially as the Seaboard Railroad during its time, was an American railroad that existed from April 14, 1900, until July 1, 1967, when it merged with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, its longtime rival, to form the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.
