Cambodian Adoption Scandal
The Cambodian adoption scandal was an international adoption fraud and child trafficking case that took place in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The perpetrators were Lauryn Galindo, an American adoption facilitator, and her sister Lynn Devin, who operated Seattle International Adoptions. Between 1997 and 2001, the pair arranged hundreds of adoptions of Cambodian children by families in the United States. Although many of the children were presented as orphans, later investigations found that some had living relatives and had been obtained through coercion, deception, or payments made to impoverished families.
