Calvin Hunt (American Football)
Calvin Cornelius Hunt (born December 31, 1947) is a former American football player. He played center one season for the National Football League (NFL)'s Philadelphia Eagles in 1970 and two for the Houston Oilers from 1972 to 1973. Born in Oceanside, California but raised in Edna, Texas, Hunt played at Edna High School for coach Allen Boren. Following graduation in 1966, Hunt attended Baylor University, where he played for John Bridgers the first three years, and for Bill Beall during his senior year. Center (American Football)
Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost lineman of the offensive line on a football team's offense. The center is also the player who passes (or " snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each play. The importance of centers for a football team has increased, due to the re-emergence of 3–4 defenses. According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, "you need to have somebody who can neutralize that nose tackle. If you don't, everything can get screwed up. Allen Boren
Allen Moore Boren (March 28, 1934 – November 14, 2018) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Sam Houston State University from 1972 to 1973, compiling a record of 7–14. Boren played football, baseball, track, and basketball at Carthage High School and later football and baseball at Sam Houston State University for coach Paul Pierce. After graduation, he started his coaching career as an assistant at Wharton High School in 1956, before moving on to Sweeny High School. In 1959, Boren landed his first head coaching job at Bellville High School, a Class 2A school between Houston and Austin, Texas. Two district titles, one Bi-Dist. and one state runner up 37–9–1. 1970 NFL Draft
The 1970 National Football League Draft was the 35th National Football League Draft and the first of the league's modern era, following the merger of the National Football League with the American Football League. It was held on January 27–28, 1970, at the Belmont Plaza Hotel in New York City, New York. John Bridgers
John Dixon Bridgers II (January 13, 1922 – November 24, 2006) was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Johns Hopkins University from 1953 to 1956 and at Baylor University from 1959 to 1968, compiling a career college football record of 59–74–2. Bridgers was the athletic director at Florida State University from 1973 to 1979 and at the University of New Mexico from 1979 to 1987.
