Calvary Memorial Church of Oak Park is a nondenominational church on Lake Street in Oak Park, Illinois, United States. History In the winter of 1915, a few families from about five different area churches, representing different denominations and traditions, gathered in a home with the idea of starting a new church. These founders wanted this new church to be free of denominational ties and yet faithful to the Bible. On March 21, 1915, Madison Street Church met for the first time in a rented storefront on Madison Street. Their first budget was less than $100. In 1937, the name was changed to Madison Street Bible Church, and in 1959 to Calvary Memorial Church, its present name. A fire destroyed much of the facility in 1977, after which the congregation rented facilities for two years until purchasing its present building on Lake Street in the heart of Oak Park from the First Presbyterian Church. Calvary Lutheran Church and Parsonage is a historic church building and parsonage in Silverton, Oregon, United States. The church is also known as the First Christian Church. The church is a combination of the Carpenter Gothic and the Queen Anne architectural styles. The parsonage is Bungalow/Craftsman and Greek Revival style. Originally, the church was known as the First Christian Church. In 1906, the church building became the Norwegian Lutheran Church and in 1926-1927 it was remodeled to its current configuration. The church was sold in 1975, and in 1984, it became the White Steeple Gallery and Tea Room, a name by which it was still known in 1992. The church, a balloon frame building built during 1891-92, is Gothic Revival in style, with Eastlake ornamentation. Calvary Methodist Church
Calvary Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church building at 300 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, Massachusetts. Built in 1919-23, the building is a near replica of Boston's Kings Chapel, executed in wood. Its tower is topped by a belfry designed by architect Charles Bulfinch in 1809 and built for use on Boylston Market; it was rescued from demolition and given to the church in 1921. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Description and history The Calvary Methodist Church is located on the southwest side of Massachusetts Avenue, southeast of Arlington center. It is a rectangular wood frame structure, with a projecting vestibule and tower. The main block has a hipped roof, and its side walls have four round-arch windows. The Episcopal Church in Delaware, formerly known as the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware, is one of 108 dioceses making up the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. It consists of 33 congregations or parishes in an area the same as the State of Delaware. The diocese is led by a bishop and staff and provides episcopal supervision and some administrative assistance for its parishes. The current bishop, the eleventh Bishop of Delaware, is Kevin Scott Brown, who was consecrated bishop December 9, 2017, and succeeded Wayne P. Wright upon the latter's retirement. Calvary Chapel is an association of evangelical churches, maintains a number of radio stations around the world and operates many local Calvary Chapel Bible College programs. Beginning in 1965 in Southern California, this fellowship of churches grew out of Chuck Smith's Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
