Calva (sport)
Calva is a traditional sport played in certain parts of Spain. It has roots going back to pre-Roman times, being developed by the Celtiberians who lived in the modern-day provinces of ﾃ」ila, Salamanca, and Zamora. It was a game for shepherds, who threw stones at bull's horns to entertain themselves. With the passing of time, the game was modified: a piece of wood (the ''calva'') came to be substituted for the horn, and the stone was replaced with a cylinder of iron or steel (the ''marro''). The name of ''calva'' was derived from the field in which the game came to be played, which was free of obstacles and rocks. Today the sport is practiced mainly in Castile, Salamanca, Zamora, and Biscay, although also in Madrid, Barcelona, Plasencia and Navarre. Celtiberians
The Celtiberians were a group of Celts and Celticized peoples inhabiting an area in the central-northeastern Iberian Peninsula during the final centuries BC. They were explicitly mentioned as being Celts by several classic authors (e.g. Strabo). These tribes spoke the Celtiberian language and wrote it by adapting the Iberian alphabet, in the form of the Celtiberian script. The numerous inscriptions that have been discovered, some of them extensive, have enabled scholars to classify the Celtiberian language as a Celtic language, one of the Hispano-Celtic (also known as Iberian Celtic) languages that were spoken in pre-Roman and early Roman Iberia. Archaeologically, many elements link Celtiberians with Celts in Central Europe, but also show large differences with both the Hallstatt culture and La Tﾃｨne culture. ﾃ」ila ( , , ) is a Spain, Spanish city located in the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Castile and Leﾃｳn. Salamanca (province)
Salamanca () is a province of western Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Castile and Leﾃｳn (Castilla y Leﾃｳn). It is bordered by the provinces of ﾃ」ila, Cﾃ｡ceres, Valladolid, and Zamora, and on the west by Portugal. It has an area of 12,349 km2 and in 2018 had a population of 331,473 people. Zamora (province)
Zamora () is a province of western Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Castile and Leﾃｳn. It is bordered by the provinces of Ourense, Leﾃｳn, Valladolid, and Salamanca, and by Portugal. The present-day province of Zamora was one of three provinces formed from the former Kingdom of Leﾃｳn in 1833, when Spain was reorganized into 49 provinces. Castile (historical Region)

Salamanca
Salamanca () is a Municipality of Spain, municipality and city in Spain, capital of the Province of Salamanca, province of the same name, located in the autonomous community of Castile and Leﾃｳn. Zamora (Spain)
Zamora () is a city and municipality of Spain located in the autonomous community of Castile and Leﾃｳn. It is the capital of the province of Zamora. The city straddles the Duero river.
