Caltex Records
Caltex Records ( fa, کلتکس رکوردز) is a record label based in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1980 by Iranian American immigrant Mehrdad Pakravan. The label focuses on Iranian music. In 1994, the label represented 75% of Persian musical artists in the world in part due to the exodus of musicians from Iran after the government banned popular music. Canoga Park, California
Canoga Park is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles, California. Before the Mexican–American War, the district was part of a rancho, and after the American victory it was converted into wheat farms and then subdivided, with part of it named Owensmouth as a town founded in 1912. It joined Los Angeles in 1917 and was renamed Canoga Park on March 1, 1931, after Canoga, New York. Abdolhassan Sattarpour ( fa, عبدالحسن ستارپور; born 19 November 1949), better known simply as Sattar ( fa, ستار), is an Iranian singer with specialization in both Persian pop and classical music. He had gained fame before the Islamic Revolution and became Pahlavi Royal Family court singer up until the political upheavals of the late 1970s. He left Iran in 1978 and has lived in the United States since then. Biography Sattar is one of six siblings born to an Abadani mother and Azeri father. Shahrum Kashani ( fa, شهرام کاشانی; 7 July 1971 – 28 July 2021), also known as Shahram Sebastian Shahbal was an Iranian pop singer. He released eight albums with notable hits. Biography Music Shahrum's interest in singing and music manifested at an early age. He started his career in 1990; however, it was not until 1992 that he released his professional debut album titled ''K-One'', promoted by Alireza Amirghassemi, and also with support of Persian super star Leila Forouhar. Due to his youth, synergy, and style, he gained popularity in a short amount of time. Shahram Shabpareh ( fa, شهرام شبپره) is an Iranian Pop singer and songwriter. Career He started his career as a drum player in the early 1960s when he was 13. In the mid 1960s at the age of 17, he formed a band of his own named "Rebels". After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Shahram, who had migrated to California a few years earlier, did not have the opportunity to return to his homeland. Morteza Barjesteh ( fa, مرتضی برجسته), best known by his stage name Morteza (), is an Iranian pop singer-songwriter and composer who gained fame in Iran during the 1980s. Early life Morteza was born in Tehran and spent his early years there. Finishing primary and secondary education, he studied architecture and engaged in graphic designing. During the years of living in Iran, he worked with several advertising companies as a designer. By the age of 16, Morteza started singing in Iranian movies. Nasrollah Moein ( fa, نصرالله معین), more commonly known as Moein ( fa, معین, ), is an Iranian singer. Moein was born in Najafabad, a city in Isfahan Province of Iran. He began his artistic caree as a radio singer and released several albums before ''Miparastam'' in 1983, which was his first album to be widely noticed in Iran. The name of this album was ''Ghazal''. In recent years, Moein has become widely acclaimed in Iran and he has played concerts all around the globe. Mansour Jafari Mamaghani ( fa, منصور جعفری مَمَقانی, born 28 July 1971), better known as Mansour, is an Iranian Azerbaijani musical artist specializing in Iranian traditional music based in Southern California. Iran's Green Movement and Nokia Club controversy 2009 After the Iranian presidential election in June 2009 and protests against its results, Mansour recorded a song titled "Nedaye Eshgh". Leila Forouhar ( fa, لیلا فروهر, ''Leilâ Foruhar'') (born 23 February 1959) is an Iranian pop and classical singer. She was a child star, acting from the age of 3. She relocated to next door Turkey in 1986, then to Paris, before emigrating to Los Angeles in 1988. Career Leila is the daughter of the late Iranian actor Jahangir Forouhar.
